We are delighted to be inviting you to the Sustainable Agricultural Development and Food Security Summit 2011 that will take place from 29-31 August 2011 at the Southern Sun Grayston Hotel in Sandton, Johannesburg South Africa. For the first time, 21st century achievements in agriculture have put forward a common African agenda with specific priorities to ensure sustainable African agriculture development and food security. The focus for these advancements has been the New Partnership for Africa’s Development (NEPAD) and its Comprehensive Africa Agriculture Development Programme (CAADP). With rising food and fuel prices, food security is threatened, and faced with continuing deterioration in food and nutrition security, African Heads of States and governments are now giving agriculture more of their attention. There is more activity in public-private partnerships to increase productivity and growth in the food production industry.

The aim of the summit is to explore sustainable solutions for agricultural development to ensure food security in Sub-Saharan Africa and to facilitate discussions around challenges in policy coordination, challenges of sustainable food production and distribution, investment opportunities and initiatives, the adoption of modern technology and the role of the food industry in strengthening the link between agriculture, environment and nutrition as well as strategies and initiatives for sustainable increase of food production that benefits the environment, community and the farmers. CAADP as a framework has been a pillar for sustainable agricultural development that will also ensure sustainable food security for Africa.
