Land Day aims to heighten attention among policy makers to  land issues of relevance to the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD). The UNCCD Land Day 5 builds on the momentum of the global political attention given to desertification, land degradation, and drought at the occasion of the UN General Assembly High-level Meeting on desertification, as well as the outcome of the UNCCD’s COP10 held in Changwon, Republic of Korea, where the Parties for the first time discussed the achievement of a global target of zero net land degradation. The theme of the UNCCD Land Day 5, “Achieving zero net Land Degradation: Impacts on Climate Change Issues” is based on the calls from the world leaders at the UN General Assembly High-level Meeting on “Addressing Desertification Land Degradation and Drought.

Speakers and moderators include GSSA members, Prof Klaus Kellner, Dr James Gambiza, and Mr Graham von Maltitz.
